Why does joining shift sheets to ERP data at batch level improve manufacturing reporting?
Shift sheets record what happened on the floor, such as downtime and scrap, while the ERP records materials, orders and costs. Joining them on batch number lets you see the true cost, yield and downtime of each batch rather than estimates built from separate reports.
Without a common key, shift losses cannot be tied to the product, order or material that caused them, and cost per unit is an average rather than a measurement.
Typical obstacles:
- Batch numbers typed inconsistently on paper sheets.
- Shifts that span several batches.
- Units of measure that differ between systems.
Zansa joins shift sheets and ERP records at batch level as part of its manufacturing dashboards. A Data Health Check first assesses how clean the keys are, so the Foundation Build can rely on them.
