Who owns the data models and dashboards when an agency builds them?

Ownership depends on the contract, so agree it in writing before work starts. Ideally you own the cloud account, code, data models, dashboards and documentation, so you can switch provider or bring the work in-house without losing anything or paying to regain access.

Warning signs of lock-in:

Ask for admin access to accounts, source code in a repository you control, and written documentation. At Zansa, data lives in a cloud account owned by the client and the client owns all that is built, which keeps switching and handover simple.
