How do I connect WooCommerce to reporting tools?
WooCommerce stores data in a MySQL or MariaDB database and also exposes a REST API. You can either extract orders and products through the API on a schedule or replicate the database to a reporting copy, then model the data and connect your BI tool to that.
Considerations:
- Orders, line items, coupons and refunds sit in several related tables or API objects.
- Plugins often add custom fields that you must map explicitly.
- Querying the live shop database directly can slow the website, so use a replica or off-peak extracts.
- HPOS (high-performance order storage) changes where order data lives in newer versions, so check your setup.
As with any shop data, reconcile against payment gateway reports and accounting totals before trusting dashboards.
