Why do totals change after I refresh my report?
Totals change when source data is backdated, edited, deleted or loaded late, or when report logic or filters changed. Accounting entries posted to earlier periods and delayed card settlements are common causes. A change history and snapshots help explain what moved.
Look for:
- Late-arriving transactions assigned to past dates.
- Credit notes or journals posted to prior months.
- Incremental loads that missed updates.
- Changes to mapping tables or definitions.
- Time zone or cut-off differences.
For reporting that must stay fixed, such as month-end packs, take a snapshot when the period closes. For live views, show a last-updated time and note that recent periods may still change.
