What happens to my dashboards if the person who built them leaves?
Without documentation and shared access, they may become unmaintainable and eventually untrusted. Reduce the risk by keeping logic in version control, using shared accounts and ownership, documenting metrics and refresh processes, and avoiding hidden formulas in personal files or laptops.
Resilience checklist:
- Data and dashboards in organisation-owned accounts, not personal ones.
- Credentials in a shared secrets store.
- Written documentation of sources, models and schedules.
- At least two people who understand the setup.
- A handover process for leavers.
This applies equally to staff and external providers. Insist that all code, models, dashboards and documentation are yours, as Zansa's approach provides, so continuity never depends on one supplier or individual.
