How do I combine CRM data with finance data in one report?
Find a shared key, such as customer ID, company name or email domain, that links CRM records to accounting contacts, then build a customer master table that maps both. Join revenue from finance to pipeline and activity from the CRM through that mapping.
The hard part is almost always matching customers, since names are typed differently in each system.
Approach:
- Create a master customer list with one ID per real customer.
- Store mapping rows from CRM IDs and accounting IDs to the master ID.
- Handle parent and child accounts explicitly.
- Review unmatched records manually and save the decisions so they are not repeated.
Once linked, you can report on customer profitability, sales cycle versus payment behaviour, and pipeline versus actual revenue.
