What is the difference between UK GDPR and EU GDPR?

UK GDPR is the version of the regulation that applies in the United Kingdom after Brexit, alongside the Data Protection Act 2018. It is very similar in principles and rights to EU GDPR, but it is a separate legal regime, with the UK regulator being the Information Commissioner's Office. This is general information, not legal advice.

A business dealing with both UK and EU individuals may need to consider both regimes. Rules for transferring personal data internationally are also set separately in each.

Because laws and adequacy arrangements change, check current guidance from the ICO and the relevant EU authorities, or ask a qualified adviser, rather than relying on a general summary. Rules differ by country and sector, so check how this applies to you with a qualified adviser.
